Question: Am I required to register?

Answer: Yes. The site is free but everyone must take a minute to register in order to access it.

Answer: No. The entire site is available to everyone who registers.

Question: I forgot my user name and/or password. What can I do?

Answer: On the log-in page, click the hyperlinked text that says "I have forgotten my user name or password". Follow the instructions to submit your email address, and your user name and password will be emailed to that address.

Technical Requirements

 
Question: What hardware and software do I need?

Answer: The Clinical Care Options sites require the following:
  • An Internet connection that is least 28.8 Kbps
  • A monitor set to 800x600 pixels or more
  • Netscape 7.x or newer , Internet Explorer 5.x or newer, or Firefox
  • Macromedia Flash plug-in 6.0 or greater
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • (Optional) Sound card and speakers for audio

Question: I'm having trouble viewing an animation. What are likely causes?

Answer: The following are common sources of problems with animations:
  • Some firewalls block certain types of streaming media content. Contact your administrator or check the documentation of your firewall to see if this is the case.
  • Check that you have the latest version of the Flash Player software (see above).
  • Make sure the animation has completely downloaded. Over low-bandwidth connections such as a 28.8 Kbps modem, some animations may take a few minutes to download sufficiently to begin playing.

Question: The animation is running but there is no sound. What should I do?

Answer: The following are potential reasons for an animation to play without sound:
  • The animation does not contain audio. If there is audio in the animation, there will be a button marked Audio or Mute in the animation window; otherwise, there is most likely no audio.
  • You do not have a sound card and/or speakers. The animations require speakers and a sound card to be connected and powered on.
  • The software volume control of your computer is muted or turned down. To adjust the volume on Windows machines, click the speaker icon in the Windows taskbar or find the Sound or Audio settings in the Windows Control Panel.
  • The volume controls on your speakers, keyboard, or laptop are muted or turned down.
  • Another program that has audio capabilities is running and may be interfering with the animation. Close any open applications that involve sound.
